CULTURAL HERITAGE STUDY AND CATALOGUING
The purpose of this action is to study and catalogue all the heritage and natural assets that are present around the Douro as well as the offer of cultural services along the Douro Route, from the province of Valladolid to the mouth of the river.
The document will compile the analysis and monitoring of the conservation status of the cultural and natural assets in order to prioritise the necessary interventions that ensure the preservation of these assets.
The course of the River Douro features heritage elements that require intervention to improve the conservation status and signposting of some heritage elements.
These actions will be carried out specifically in Zamora, on the Cabañales water mills and all along the Mill Route, as well as in Miranda do Douro, with the creation of digital information panels to promote routes linked to the municipality’s natural and cultural heritage.
GEOREFERENCED HERITAGE WEB PLATFORM
The development of the ‘Douro Route’ web platform will aim to bring together and georeference the information related to the natural and cultural assets present around the River Douro, via an interactive online map with GPS references included in a georeferenced management system.
This is a river itinerary with a georeferenced route intended for canoeing or kayaking from the province of Valladolid to Porto. The River Douro route is organised into different sections that join different towns. It will be possible to download the different GPS tracks from the ‘Douro Route’ web platform.
The aim is to promote and enhance healthy practices and outdoor sporting activities in surroundings that are high quality in terms of landscape and environment around the River Douro. To achieve this, different health routes will be signposted based on difficulty level and the skills needed to do these routes, distinguishing family, adventure and science routes.
